Dan Hartman, Tom Stoddart HonFRPS, Roger Reynolds HonFRPS and Dougie Wallace (Speaker to be confirmed) are speaking on Saturday 20th May.

Alixandra Fazzina, Walter Benzie HonFRPS, Faye Yerbury FRPS, Trevor Yerbury FRPS, and Dan Hartman are on Sunday 21st May.

Tom Stoddart HonFRPS - Two different talks - one on his Well known Projects abroad, the second on Commercial Work. Tom has a long and varied career in which he witnessed such international events as the war in Lebanon, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the election of President Nelson Mandela, the bloody siege of Sarajevo and the wars against Saddam Hussein in Iraq. In 1997 Tony Blair gave Stoddart exclusive behind the scenes access to his election campaign. More recently he documented Prime Minister David Cameron’s daily life at 10 Downing Street. His work on the HIV/AIDS pandemic blighting sub-Saharan Africa won the POY World Understanding Award in 2003. In the same year his pictures of British Royal Marines in combat, during hostilities in Iraq, was awarded the Larry Burrows Award for Exceptional War Photography. A year later his book iWITNESS was honoured as the best photography book published in the USA.

Dan Hartman - Two different talks - one on the Great Grey Owl, the second on Wildlife in the Rockies. Dan has obtained many special images of elusive wildlife. Through years of patience and careful, quiet and respectful observation, they have proved rare wildlife can be photographed in their natural habitat, without the use of game farms.  The Hartmans, which also includes his wife, Cindy and two daughters Kelly and Cassie, have operated their Silver Gate Gallery for the past eighteen years and have sold thousands of prints and posters.  Dan and Cindy have also been widely published including National Wildlife and National Geographic. Most recently, Dan was instrumental in the making of the BBC Yellowstone program shown in January 2017. This is his first tour abroad.

Alixandra Fazzina - worked as a photojournalist throughout Eastern Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Her reportages have been published in the British and international press and her photographs exhibited worldwide. Her book “A Million Shillings: Escape from Somalia” was shortlisted for the Pictures of the Year International Best Photography Book of the Year Award. A selection of the works has been shortlisted for the Prix Pictet global award in photography and sustainability. In 2008 she was the recipient of the Vic Odden Award from the British Royal Photographic Society. In 2010 Alixandra was recognised as the winner of the highly prestigious UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award.

Trevor Yerbury FRPS and Faye Yerbury FRPS. - Trevor is a 4th generation photographer currently based in Edinburgh. He has received many accolades during his career including Fellowships of 3 major photographic bodies and in 2014 received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the industry. Trevor and Faye were awarded Direct Fellowships of the Royal Photographic Society. As portrait photographers they specialise in Fine Art Nudes and have had exhibitions of work in Edinburgh – London – Paris – Vancouver – Madrid – Valetta – Copenhagen as well as having work featured in many magazines and books. Trevor & Faye are highly respected International Chairmen and Judges globally. The Yerbury’s now devote much of their time to their seminar and workshop programme, convinced that education is essential for today’s professional photographer and they are committed to providing a platform and an environment in which all levels of photographers can come together and develop their own individual creative talents.

Walter Benzie HonFRPS - is the RPS President for 2015-2017. He is the Society’s sixty-third President since it was formed in 1853. He describes his photographic interests as ‘eclectic’ ranging from digital photography to photographic history. He a judge on the Southern Photographic Association circuit and sits on the Society’s own Licentiate distinctions panel.

Roger Reynolds HonFRPS  has been involved with the Society’s distinction process for more that 20 years. As chair of the RPS Distinctions Advisory Board, he will be presenting the recent Fellowship panels from the past year.

Dougie Wallace - cancelled due to last minute work commitmments - Speaker to be confirmed

There is a drinks reception and three course meal on the Saturday, which is a great opportunity for members to chat with each other and the speakers. We are staying at the Carnegie Conference Centre in Dunfermline as this is convenient for as many members as is possible and has good on-site facilities. 

Beyond Words are again providing a book stall as well as the RPS stall
